Samuel Nemessanyi, Budapest

One of Nemessanyi’s violas had really captured my imagination and I decided to make a copy of it. It is the less well-known masters who interest me most especially. Unfortunately it is most difficult to procure documents containing measurements or good drawings of such instruments. It always gives me a sense of pleasure, when I have the opportunity to examine the violin or viola of a master who may not be so well known, but whose work is none the less outstanding. Perhaps you may be able to help me in this respect?

Next to Johann Baptist Schweitzer, for whom he worked for a certain period, Nemessanyi is probably the best known Hungarian violin maker. Although he died fairly young he had achieved a high level of craftsmanship and all who know his instruments appreciate them greatly.
