Lorenzo und Tomaso Carcassi, Florenz
Lorenzo and Tomaso Carcassi were brothers who partially worked separately, but are supposed mainly to have worked together. Many outstanding instruments were made in their workshop, but despite this the name Carcassi is still unheard of by many violinists.
The models for violas are not so restricted as for violins; there is more room for variations. The Carcassi brothers developed a model of their own which I liked to adopt and perhaps some day make again.
